New York State Of Mind

New York City

Here I will be a week from now. It's only for five days but I'm nervous. It's not just the leaving but the being there, and the fact that it's the first time I'll experience first-hand what life could be like if I follow through with everything I'm planning on. It's scary to know that this could be my life.

Eyes Like Scrambled Eggs

I know I've been away but I come bearing gifts of sorts.

Today I cleaned my room, cleaned up my act, watched the Elizabethtown trailer (a poor substitute for actually having the movie come out on DVD so I can watch it again), and listened to this song quite a few times. It's on the Elizabethtown soundtrack, so if you have that then you have it. But if you don't have that, then you should really check it out. It's very ethereal and interesting-- on the band's MySpace profile, they have Spiritualized as their first influence, and I've ever forced you to download or listen to "Ladies & Gentlemen, We Are Floating In Space" by Spiritualized (from the Vanilla Sky soundtrack), then you know how awesome this must be.
In fact, maybe you need to hear that song as well. Maybe this will just be a Cameron Crowe kind of entry. Maybe that's only natural. I think if I were a middle-aged man, I would be Cameron Crowe. It wouldn't be so bad.

Forever With My Magazines

Three weeks from today, at this time, actually, I will be at the Glamour magazine headquarters in New York!! Glamour! I love Glamour!
Now if only we could get SPIN, it'd be the best field trip ever. Well, it would be even better if we were to get SPIN and I could meet Chuck Klosterman and he could take me under his wing and get me started in a future career as a senior writer at SPIN and author of multiple books on American pop culture. Yeah...that's the dream.
