Down The Rabbit Hatch

I've been away. I could blame it on the massive amounts of reading required for my History classes (what, oh, what am I doing in a 4000-level history class?), but deep down, I know it's really all JJ Abrams' fault.
Yes, friends, I've become hooked on LOST. Melissa bought the DVDs of the first season a little over a week ago and since then we've been frantic about catching up on it in time for this Wednesday's season two premiere. And all I can ask is, why did nobody sit me down and force me to watch this show last season? My god. I really didn't need to get sucked back into TV, but if I was going to, this was a good show to do it with.
But tonight we finished the season, so not only do I get week-long bouts of suspense (what's going to happen during winter hiatus?! It's been hard enough lasting an afternoon before my next LOST fix!), but I get more time that doesn't have to be spent plowing through 24 episodes of admittedly awesome TV. So more homework? Shit. I'm in so far over my head I'm completely submerged. Who needs a 4.0, right?

Investigative Reporting At Its Finest

So, I am currently writing an article for the Red&Black about the Redcoats. I am also currently writing an article for UGAzine about the history of various music venues around Athens, focusing on the GA Theatre and the 40Watt (which are fairly well legendary and really do have fascinating histories). I got both of these assignments today. And now comes the time in my writing process that I like to call "Milk Everyone You Know For Ideas Because Your Own Ideas Sort Of Suck, You Know," so if any of you have any ideas for either story (angles, sources, etc.-- as a reader, what would you like to know about the marching band or the GA Theatre?), comment or something. It's a collaborative process, it really is, in which I get the byline, and you get to say, "Hey, that bitch stole that idea from me!" Sounds like fun, eh?
Incidentally, I finally got a Molly O'Shea's gameday t-shirt tonight. My experience at UGA is a little bit closer to being complete.

May You One Day Carry Me Home

This is the one song that makes me want to live in the South forever; the song that I heard inside my head the whole time we were wandering around the streets of Charleston; the song I hear when I'm sitting in my Southern Autobiography class; the song I hear on the occasions when I'm walking around this beautiful campus and actually taking the time to consider the beauty and the history behind it more than just the construction and how long I have to get to class. This is the song that Elton John said is his favorite off Ryan's CD, Heartbreaker. And you should really just listen to it. It's an UltraShare link, so just left-click it like usual and it will take you to a page where you can download the MP3 if you wish. I just love it and thought you should, too.
